Hurricane Irene

Well, Hurricane Irene proved to be quite uneventful here in Wake County.  It started on Friday night and it just rained and was really windy.  The same weather pattern continued throughout Saturday and eventually just went away.  Unfortunately, a transformer blew in our neighborhood, so we were without power for the majority of the day.  The four of us made the best of it though and tried to keep ourselves busy by going out to lunch and to the mall.  We ended up finding a cute, new place to get lunch by NCState that we’ll definitely be going to again, so we were pretty stoked by that.  Hayden got to wear his rain boots again and splash around in some water – heaven for a toddler.  Overall, not too bad of a day, but we were quite relieved when the power came back on Saturday evening.

Yeah, it was kind of a non-event with the exception of no power! We cleaned all the leaves out of the backyard yesterday and the kids were on pine cone duty; they loved it! What's the new place by NCSU you tried? Would like to put it on my list if I haven't been yet... :)

Hope you guys have a safe trip and look forward to a playdate once you're back.

Thanks Robin! I don't remember the name of it, but will ask Jamie when he gets home. It's in Cameron Village and is just a little sandwich shop. We'll definitely have to have a playdate when we get back and catch up, too - especially on a Thursday with just Bennet and Whitley Ann. It'll seem so quiet without the big kids;).

And thanks Mom. Hayden can't wait to see Nana and Papa when we get back into town. He had a fake conversation with you both on the pretend phone this morning:) Sounded pretty funny. Had something to do with swimming I think. Love you!!!
