The 4th of July

The 4th of July was really relaxed and nice this year.  For obvious reasons, we kept it super simple and had a great visit with Nana and Papa. We went swimming, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and ended the day with sparklers and watched some of the neighbors fireworks.

The Pool

Thankfully, our neighborhood pool is open this year but with limited capacity.  If your house is an even #, your family can go on even days. Same for odd days.  Not awesome, but good for keeping the crowds down.  We've been enjoying it as a nice way to cool off and get out to exercise.

The Outer Banks

After staying at home for about 2 months, we decided that a trip to the beach was in order.  So, we packed up and headed to one of our favorite beach spots that would not be too crowded and we could social distance.  It was a perfect day with gorgeous weather, perfect waves and not a lot of people.

Lots of Porch Rocking

Sweet porch rocking watching the day go by.

The Beginning of COVID Quarantine

I think that it was a complete shock to everyone this year in March when COVID-19 literally invaded the world.  As I write this four months later and it's still increasing everyday, I am dumb founded.  Sadly, like the rest of the kids in the US, the boys ended their 3rd and 5th grade years at home.  Our local school district tried hard to implement online learning and keep the boys busy.  It was definitely not what anyone had envisioned for school, sports and vacations.  But we tried our best to make the most of it by being together and enjoying the nice spring weather at home. Some days were hot enough to break out the little pool for the 1st time of the season. We had lots of walks and outdoor time on the porch.  Our cats love our porch so much that Jamie built them a little shelf in the corner to look out at the birds and squirrels in our yard.  I don't think they know just how spoiled they are, but we wouldn't have it any other way because they're so sweet.

Florida for February Track Out

The boys were tracked out in February and got to spend a week of it alone with Nana and Papa in Florida.  Part of their birthday presents were park hopper tickets to Disney from Nana and Papa. They had so much fun and got to park hop around at Disney with the two of them.  Jamie and I then had the week to ourselves and kept busy by having some friends over for dinner, hanging out with Miles and Henry, watching movies and going to the beach.  A great week!

Our 2020 Snow

It usually snows at least once a year, which is perfect for our taste.  It's beautiful, the kids can play in it and then it melts the next day.  This was our 2020 snowfall.  Enough for Bennet to make a snowman and for the news crews to put up the "panic-o-meter". :)

40th B'day Girls Trip to Vail

For our 40th birthdays, my friends decided to plan a girls trip to Vail, Colorado in January.  It was cool to meet up with everyone since we were all flying in from different states.  The five of us had an amazing trip and Vail was just as perfect and beautiful as it looks in pictures.  Since it was right after the holiday season, they left the holiday lights up which just added to whole experience.   The girl time, laughs and memories made are priceless and I can't wait until our next big trip together.

Bennet's 9th Birthday and Cat Adoption Day

Bennet had a very special and exciting 9th birthday this year.  One of the boys' Christmas presents was to adopt two cats.  We had started our search early on and wanted to make sure we found the perfect cats that were mild, sweet and snuggly.  After a lot of searching in the entire triangle area, we found our sweet Henry (the dark tabby) at our local Pet Smart in Cary.  Since we were in Florida for Christmas, we waited to pick them up and decided that Bennet's birthday would be perfect.  So, we adopted our two brothers on January 11th (Miles is the bonus kitty).  It was so fun to bring them home and the two of them adjusted well and fit right in.  Although his birthday was great and he got spoiled again by family with lots of Legos, getting the cats was Bennet's favorite part.

Our 2019 Family Christmas Picture

Just one family picture this year on our Christmas card.  Hard to believe another year has flown by and the boys are ending their 10th and 8th year!
