From the Beach to the Mountains
So today was one of the more eventful Tuesdays we've had as a family so far. We decided to head off to the Blue Ridge Mountains and do a little walking/site seeing. We first went to E.B. Jeffress Park to hike by some cascading waterfalls.....very pretty and a nice hike.
We found the Blue Ridge Parkway which winds through the mountains and is just gorgeous. We got lucky, because the weather couldn't have been more perfect either - low 70's and no humidity. After our walk and picnic lunch, we headed down to Boone and Blowing Rock. It was much more built up than we thought it would be, and we could tell that they're quite the tourist destinations. But since today was a random Tuesday in July, we didn't have to deal with any crowds. Downtown Blowing Rock was really neat and had a lot of quaint shops in the downtown area.
As for Hayden, we're so happy with what a little traveler he is. First of all, we don't know what we would do if he didn't like the Bjorn. He just hangs there and takes it all in. He's great, and we were really proud of him. Let's just hope it continues, and I'm not speaking too soon.

A Fun Filled Saturday
Hayden had another big week and went to the beach and the aquarium for the first time. Instead of going to Wrightsville Beach like we did last October, we decided to head a little further south and check out Kure Beach. After slathering on the baby sunblock, we took him for a short walk on the pier and then the beach. He did great, and we could tell that he really liked it. In fact, we had a hard time getting him to look at the camera, because he kept checking out the waves. It was fun to watch him put his little feet in the sand for the first time, which, fortunately, he enjoyed. After the excitement of the beach, we went to Fort Fisher to the North Carolina Aquarium. It was nice and fun to see all of the different sea life. By this time, we were all starving, so we got lucky, again, and found a Sticky Fingers restaurant in Wilmington. I'm usually not a rib fan, but I always make an exception there, because they're so good. I think I'm the only person I know, though, that eats them with a fork. Since we were so close to downtown Wilmington, we thought that we would head down there and do some exploring. Overall, it was a great Saturday, and we were really proud of Hayden, because he did such a good job.

Our Baby's Growing Up
We've started Hayden on baby food once a day, which I can't believe is here already. My Mom was feeding him, so I was able to take some fun pictures. Every time he would swallow, his eyes would get really big....so funny. I have it on video tape, but all you can hear is my Mom, Dad and I laughing, because it was so darn cute. He just makes me smile. He got some new clothes from Nana and Grandpa, and I thought this new hat was fun. To me, hats for boys are like bows for girls. You can never have enough.
