The boys officially started the Pee Wee Potter program at the high school this morning. I think this is such an awesome program and I’m happy that the boys got in (there’s usually a waiting list). It’s part of the parenting class that the high school offers, so the kids are each paired up with a high school student. They meet two times a week in the mornings and have a lot of fun doing crafts, singing, etc. Both boys are very excited to be a part of it and love the social time. It’s wonderful for me, too, because I have an hour and a half to myself while they are there. I love that it’s at my old high school. I’ve introduced the boys to two of my old teachers, which is just too fun. I really get a kick of that! It’s fun going in the school, but hard because I have a huge itch to return to teaching and will always miss being in the classroom. For now though, I enjoy being home with my boys and love watching them grow.

All Aboard!
This little guy has been obsessed with trains for about a year now. He loves Thomas and the very exciting (lots of sarcasm here) Mighty Machines videos. Since we’ve moved back to Illinois, he’s really gotten into diggers, bulldozers, and mighty trucks as well. It’s fun to listen to him on a car ride, because he’ll point out every railroad track, bridge, truck, etc. Hayden picked out a Sonic costume at the store to play with, so Bennet got to pick out a costume as well. It was no surprise that he wanted to be a railroad conductor.

A Super Fast Sonic and A Cute Cuddly Dog
We are potty training Bennet, so the boys and I are just hanging out at home this week. After lunch, the boys wanted to play dress up, so here are Sonic and a puppy (last years Halloween costume). I love it when these boys dress up and am already getting excited for Halloween this year!!

Hayden and Bennet’s First Pumpkin Festival
One of the highlights of growing up in Morton was going to the Pumpkin Festival every year. It was such a big deal for everyone as it’s such a quintessential all American festival. So this year, Jamie and I were very excited to be home to take our kids for the very first time. The boys loved seeing their new downtown all transformed for the festival, riding rides and seeing their friends. Everything about it was so much fun! Another Morton traditional that we used to do every year growing up was to go to Ackerman’s and pick out your mums and pumpkins for the season. This year was definitely didn’t disappoint and the kids had a blast! What a great way to welcome in the fall season.

Pumpkin Festival Excitement
The boys’ buddy came over to play before Pumpkin Festival today and it was so hilarious listening to them talk about it in the basement. Lots of silly giggles and excitement over our fun new tradition.
Corn Lover!
I came downstairs the other day after doing laundry and found Bennet eating uncooked corn and wearing my sunglasses. What a silly guy.
